8/23 Family Reunion Day 1 (15)

September 25, 2013 at 9:54 pm

We woke up in a ski cabin strewn with sleeping hikers and backpacks.  There was a frost but a beautiful sunrise over the mountain.  Being in a novel four sided shelter for the night, we of course went back to sleep until there was no ice.  After we woke up the second time, we bid a hasty goodbye and ran the 15 miles to meet my cousins and hiker sympathizers, Dulce and Mike.

Good thing for easy trails. LoVermont.

And yet, the views are still beautiful.

Our timing worked our perfectly (or serendipitously, since nothing can really be planned on the trail).  In no time we were showered, dressed like real people, and on our way to the reunion in, ironically, Lyme, NH.  Although we’ll be actually walking within a couple miles of Lyme in a week, we weren’t quite quick enough to make it in time.  It was quite a welcome home to see my extended family at dinner and start the reunion out right, with great music and dancing in a barn!
