4/12 Lance Creek Campground (8)

We got flooded by a Georgia monsoon last night.  We didn’t so much wake up as remain conscious since we didn’t get a lot of sleep between bailing out the tent and trying to save our down sleeping bags. A few new friends stuck around to lift our spirits in the morning, though, and we were serenaded by a cigar box ukelele while we packed up.  We took today early and dried our things in the afternoon sun.  We had perfect sunny, cool hiking weather and camped along with our group at the edge of the mandatory bear canister zone.  Mark even managed to abolish the last remnants of the lake that had accumulated in his shoe with a big campfire so he could stop hiking in a plastic bag!
